Events - December 2008 Nature Preserve Closed December 1, 2008 - December 2, 2008 - All Day Latta Plantation Nature Preserve will be closed December 1 and 2 for Deer Herd Management. Husbandry and Training Workshop December 6, 2008 - December 7, 2008 - 8:30am-4pm This two day workshop is designed for beginner intermediate and advanced level educators, trainers and caregivers. The information presented is based on over 20 years of caring for permanently disabled injured raptors at Carolina Raptor Center. If you are looking for an intensive learning experience that combines lecture, open discussion and hands on activities with live birds, then this is it. Classes will be taught by CRC staff members.
Agenda Includes: Permits, Diets, Bird Selection/Quality of Life, Basic Handling and Training, Cage Design and Considerations, Program Development, Handling and Training Challenging Birds, Advanced Behavior Traning. Dress warmly and practice your "hoots" -- this is a members-only event! Pre-registration is required.

Carolina Raptor Center celebrates the winter season with our Wild Wings Winter Festival. Live bird presentations address how the changing seasons affect raptors (migration, hunting techniques, & surviving the cold) and arts and crafts activities make it fun for kids of all ages!
Activities will include: storytelling, face painting, cookie decorating, "sleigh" (hay) rides*, live bird presentations, having your photo taken with a live raptor, making bird feeders, learning how to feed birds for winter, and more! Regular admission; *Limited space available |
